York College is in Pennsylvania. Maybe you mean New York University or New York Technical College?
Maybe they mean the York College that is in Jamaica, Queens, and is a branch of the City University of New York -- you know, the one that is about twice the size of the one in Pennsylvania. You really aren't from here, are you?
(And please don't ask if by "City University of New York" maybe I really mean NYU...)

CUNY usurped the name from a PA institution that traces its founding to 1787. There is a universe of names available to choose from, why a name that was already taken?
Since York College is by the E train, you could rent pretty much anywhere on the Queens Blvd subway line, for example, Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Long Island City, etc.
