I've long thought that NYC Transit, but especially the subway system, was a mess. But it seems like every other day now I am hearing about massive delays and frustrated riders. I saw a video yesterday of people climbing onto the tracks in order to walk to the next station after being stuck.
So how many of you have experienced these delays? And how many of you think you're getting your money's worth?
The amazing thing about the subway system isn't that it works so poorly. It's that it works at all.
And if you've ever had to use the subways for more than a ride or two in any other U.S. city you wouldn't complain.
With all its faults, delays, overcrowding, and occasional pizza rats, etc., it's still the best system in the country.
The post has recently been stirring the pot with some articles.
The MTA's lifelong failure during my adult life is why I can't fathom living and working in the NYC metro.
... the only thing worse is the New Yorkers who tolerate the low quality as some caveat of having a comprehensive transit system.
What other system in the U.S. would you say you get more bang for the buck?
