Hello folks.
I usually commute by subway, occasionally by bus in uptown area at 9am or 5pm, I recently found that UberPool offers quite attractive pricing services below 125th st. Is it worth a try?

Yes! And that's a double yes!
A friend kind of forced me to download the application, and since then, I have no regrets. I absolutely love it and wouldn't think about giving it up. I have gotten Uber Pool's to go from West Chelsea to the UWS for only $5. The prices fluctuate, but I have gotten very lucky with the app.

You should try VIA. I used it for the 1st time yesterday and it's pretty good. It doesn't cover all of manhattan. (Manhattan south of 125th St). For the most part, the cars are all SUVs.
All Manhattan rides during weekdays from 6am until 8pm are a flat $5 per ride.
I originally started using Uber Pool, however once I discovered Lyft Line I deleted the Uber app. Lyft Line is almost always less expensive in my experience. Most importantly, Lyft Line actually picks you up / drops you off exactly where you request.
Uber forces you to walk a few blocks when you get picked up and dropped off, which literally makes no sense. Why would I be down to walk 2 blocks with heavy grocery bags if I am paying for a car service? I might as well take the bus/subway!

I agree with this. Lyft is a little better since they pick up at your location. Uberpool and Via usually request that you go to a location. They do this to avoid going the opposite direction or having the driver go backwards.
You should reconsider Uber though. They have Riderpass which you pay 20.00 upfront and have access to 40% discount on UberX and UberPool. I remember one time they had a deal where rides where $8.99 for UberX and $5.99 for Uberpool as long as the value of the ride was 25.00 or less.
These pooling car services are the future of transportation in NYC. The odd man out will be the driver when automated cars go into full production, but eventually you'll see Manhattan banning cars with 0 passengers and require at least 2+ in the vehicle at all times
