You might want to miss the traffic and congestion of lower Manhattan and head up to Co-op City for the firework display this year on July 3rd at 7:00 PM. I think it's the only firework display in the Bronx, and many people say it's even better show than the one in Manhattan. Last year I almost missed the fireworks waiting on the never ending line to get through security up to the FDR highway for viewing. I'm not doing that again.

If one lives in Timbuktu (aka Co-op City), can understand having fireworks there (hood or otherwise) or whatever.

We have friends high up in Southbridge with a nice terrace looking down on the Brooklyn Bridge. Looking forward to it...nice weather would be a plus.

Co-op city has a good show, it's not like how they used to do down on dyckman with the block vs. block battles. It's an actually official show.

On another note I actually also learned that Orchard Beach has firework show tonight too. I'll probably go to that too. T

Just saw the Orchard Beach fireworks last night .... I don't know if I'll ever go again. Orchard beach parking lot is poorly designed for these sort of events because it only has one road out of the parking lot. Firework last about 25 minutes and were pretty good but were done around 9:45. I got out of the parking lot around midnight. It was absolute chaos trying to have 10,000 cars leave out of a one lane road. Police were absolutely no help in organizing the traffic.
