Country Club and City Island are obvious upper middle class areas, and Riverdale sits alone by itself being the wealthiest and nicest.
But my point is that there are cops and firefighters/EMTs in the ghetto parts too, and that not everyone in the ghetto hates the police.

Cops, firefighters, etc. generally don't live in the ghetto.

Absolutely nothing, but people love posting ignorant comments without critically thinking. Facebook is even worse, "where's *** and why aren't they protesting!?" Typical.

That's a hard question to answer honestly. If I had to take a guess I'd say it could be our perception of the way we view our police.

The details in this story made me cringe. I took the NYPD exam in January and stuff like this certainly stays in the back of my mind.

My condolences to her family and her partner for having to witness that.

This is super upsetting. A friend of mine also worked and knew this lady personally, so sad to have a WORKING mother support her 3 kids, get shot for making sure these hoodlums are safe. I love this city but hate the cowards who run it. BRING BACK STOP AND FRISK. Bill DeLOUS'O needs to be DEthroned. Such a lousy mayor. I'm not one into identity politics but when Republicans ran the city, at least crime wasn't spiraling out of control. With this DeLOUSY'O this city is turning into a safe haven cesspool for thugs and criminals.

I wasn't a fan of blasio but time has proven that crime has been under good control in the past few years. this was a targeted hate crime that is hard, or impossible, to prevent. It is unfair to blame it on anyone but the unpredictable perp.

I feel for the officer and her family. she could have been more cautious not to park on a crime-ridden street to wrap up her day's job in the middle of a night.

She was in a mobile command bus ASSIGNED to that corner. The choice to "park" there wasn't hers.

And this is an example of why cops don't bend over and capitulate when civilians are commenting on policing matters.
