What is your budget? There are motels in Queens that are just a few subway stops from Manhattan.

And what is with my question in the first thread?
So if I find a room in Brooklyn (Bushwick/Williamsburg/Bay Ridge) there is no thing to worry about If I walk alone at 2 AM from the subway station to my room?

That might be tough for NYC (any of the boroughs). Try La Quinta in Long Island City. It might be a bit over your budget but if it includes breakfast then at least that's one meal you won't have to spend money on.

I stayed at a motel in South Brooklyn for 94 dollars per night

THe only problem with getting to Weehawken or Union City is that some of the buses get iffy after Midnight.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about that angle. Yes, those cities can be a bit risky at midnight alone.

Depends though, Boulevard East will be a lot safer than Bergenline Ave. Make sure the bus drops you close to where you are staying.

Start in a hostel or hotel when you arrive. Then look around for a place to stay for the rest of the summer. Some things through AirBNB are illegal, so you need to check around. Are you a student? You also might try to see if you can find something through someone here who is from your own country.

New York is relatively safe for a big city, but you do have to use caution and common sense.
