I'm a born and raised NY'er, so I'm very familiar with most neighborhoods in NYC. However, I'm looking for suggestions on where I should live and why. My goal is to find a rent-stabilized apartment alone (studio or 1 bed), so I can stay there until I have the finances to purchase without getting my rents jacked.
I'm already familiar with the housing lottery process, so that's not an option. Also, I know that neighborhoods/states not on my list (Astoria, Lefferts Garden, NJ, Connecticut, Sunnyside, W. Heights, etc.) and having roommates are cheaper alternatives, but I'm definitely not interested living in those areas or with others. My general preference is for neighborhoods that have a ton of trees/greenery and an option of various train lines but not too far from where I work in Herald Square.
Neighborhood Preferences:
- UWS
- Near the Barclays Center Hub so anything in Boerum Hill, Ft. Greene, Parkslope, Dwntn. BK etc..
- South Harlem (not north of 127th St. and west of Malcolm X Boulevard)
- W. Village (probably won't happen. hah)
- UES is an option but not too keen on this area and definitely not north of 96th st
- Open to other areas of Manhattan below 127th St as well except East Harlem, FiDi, and Midtown West
Price Range: Up to $2.5k (prefer to max out at $2.3k)
