No where on the East Coast has a comparable region to the mega commuters of LA's Inland Empire though

I used to commute from the Claremont train station. The advantage with Inland Empire is that it is serviced by commuter train to LA Union, plus there are quite affordable areas along the way. The areas being mentioned in the NY Times story do not have direct train service so commuters need to make multiple changes. The commuter with the fastest trip has to take a ferry in Newburgh to connect to the Metro North.

I used to work with one of those types who relocated from Brooklyn to the Poconos. It worked out well for him, wifey was in PA while he was having an affair with a coworker.
