Hey Frak. I am white and live on walton ave directly behind the old yankee stadium for over a year. In that time period I go outside at all hours of the night and have never been bothered for being white. If you act like a victim you might become one but if you mind your own business and show people respect they leave you alone. I love the bronx and the neighborhood. Also I am 3rd generation born here so it just as much my neighborhood as anyone elses. 99 percent of the people are hard working good folks just trying to make it. From 161st and walton all the way down to 149th has a lot of white people. The change is obvious. I just hope it does not lose the flavor or displace people for a buck. I am interested in hearing your input.

nah dude, I agree I hope it wont displace other people for a buck but its gonna happen anyway, lots of of places below 167 heading south in the south Bronx are going coop and condos are going to rise up soon. I do welcome the change though which is much needed to bad I cant say the same for areas of the bronx above 167th street!

Grand Concourse proper and some streets like Walton and Gerard, yes, probably, but I live on Sherman Ave. and, trust me, nobody is gentrifying there. People will not be knocking our doors down to get in anytime soon. Very depressing, lots of drugs, poverty, and all the other social pathologies that come with the South Bronx. I feel that the Grand Concourse/Yankee projects have almost turned our neighborhood into a Potemkin village. Unless you venture in a block or two from 161 St. and/or Grand Concourse, it looks like a normal neighborhood. All the things that brought this neighborhood down in the first place are cleverly hidden.
