So what is your opinion on removing Confederate monuments, and displaying Confederate flags?

Oh they should all go. But it's interesting this has lead to 8 CEOs leading Trump's advisory councils, which he then disbanded.

David Duke, former KKK leader spoke on how he and his fellow KKK/neo confederates/neo nazis supported Trump. This definitely has major implications for the GOP politically. After all it is forcing the removal of confederate monuments around the country, including NY.

And it is exposing the GOP, including those in NYC for having a base of people who are self described white nationalists/neo confederates. This is Trump's real base.

I understand the arguments of those who are opposed to the removal of confederate monuments and the flag. In a way, the decision feels arbitrary. Yes, the confederacy wanted to slavery to continue but it is more than likely that Northern politicians voted to end slavery not because it was the right thing to do but because it made sense strategically and it wouldn't harm their economic interests. That said, just because there were racists on both sides does not negate the fact that in modern times the confederacy symbolizes racism and an unsuccessful attempt to tear our country apart for most Americans. This can be likened to the swastica which was used for hundreds of years as a symbol of peace and love by many cultures before Hitler but now can no longer be used ...

Because of the baggage that comes with these confederate symbols, it makes sense that we take them down. Yes, the other side has bad actors as well but let's start with the people who didn't want to end slavery and then we can deal with the rest.

not sure why NY would care we are a blue state and second largest liberal city in US
i'm black and i couldn't care less about any monument being putting or taking out.
maybe because i wasn't born here or even the time when things were fked up in this country( still are but slowly healing)
sigh president trump isn't really making things easier for anyone.
they might as well get rid of all of them so these people will have nothing to fight over for.

I look at it like this:

Trump, Nazi's and the KKK are
dead set on keeping them - so removing them must be the right thing to do.

American was great at the time appearently.

How can Trump be a Nazi when his adult kids are all married to Jews and have Jewish Children?
