It's still around, you just have to look at it on your smartphone now. Good because all those free papers do nowadays is create garbage

Nat Hentoff
Michael Musto
etc.....

Great publication, had all the concert/show/party ads from all genres!

That entire Cooper Sq, Bowery location also had the great Carl Fischer sheet music store!

In the words of the late, great Prince....."Sign of the Times!"

The handwriting was on the wall the day Rupert Murdoch bought them and added the VV to his neo-Nazi empire. The left-leaning paper had no place amongst such bad company.
Back in the day, the VV dropped some BIG political bombshells.
And yes, the classified ads were the go-to for apartment listings.

Of late, it was not worth FREE, so why chop down all those trees?

The Daily News is now an equal to what the NY Post used to be back in the day. I can't believe both of these papers are still around. The New York Times should go under too - all of them. They've all become tabloids of sorts!

I remember carrying the VV around as a highschool student in the 80s was a form of signal to other teens that you were edgy and cool.

Are you being hyperbolic or are you homebound?

Print may be in serious decline, but stray newspapers are still more common than cigarette butts.

Sad news. The Voice was our go to rag for checking out which bands were playing a gig and where. Also to see what specials Uncle Steve (He loves you) was offering.

I think all print newspapers are going this way. They'll still be on the web/apps. But the big problem is that web advertising doesn't pay nearly as well as print advertising used to.
