Bill de sell out is too far right wing. He is privatizing NYCHA, ramping up broken windows, passing gentrification "rezoning" plans, and is in bed with the developers. Economically he is totally hard-right wing but liberals give him a pass because he is socially very liberal on many issues.
I would like to see him challenged from the left but it's futile he has too many special interests and developers behind him. He's also convinced labor to back him too because he passed sick leave and universal pre-k. Labor is just ignoring all the awful stuff he did at the same time.
Hard to imagination he wouldn't get a second term. I mean he's married to a black woman for crying out loud. That's like a bag of Halloween candy to a 10 year old for liberals. Like porn to a horny teenager lol

I've liked de Blasio for the most part, besides maybe not being careful enough with spending, but I lost a lot of respect for him recently when he continued Mike Bloomberg's war on freedom.

Those to the left of him have 2021 in mind. They would rather not fight him furiously and leave an opening for a Republican challenger.
Trump is proving considerable ammunition for those to the left of de Blasio. And de Blasio and Cuomo have had to cave in on certain things for their political futures. De Blasio and Cuomo can both be pressured further left.
Deblasio really needs to fix the subway or do something else.
He has zero control of the MTA. Cuomo appoints the MTA boss.
Subways doesn't affect Deblasio since he doesn't take the subway. Most rich liberals live minutes from their workplaces. It's all about the mindset of the NYers that DeBlasio shows he's taking care of the poor while giving the finger to his critics especially the Police Union.
