Estimates put the cost in Houston alone at >$30bn, excluding surrounding areas and LA. Texas seems to be expecting enormous federal aid. How much could NY be asked to contribute and would you be fine with this?
Here is one example - a treaty with Texas to provide unobstructed support for other states that experience natural disasters in the future, to avoid the way Texas politicians blocked aid for Hurricane Sandy-affected regions. That's just one example and I am sure other posters can provide more examples of how Texans and other Harvey-affected areas can reciprocate.
Money is just #s on a computer. There is no real value to it only what you believe the value is. An audit of the federal reserve system would take 100 years.
Helping them is just the right thing to do. They didn't help us isn't a good enough excuse.
I don't disagree about helping them being the right thing to do, nor do I disagree about not seeking revenge for their behavior when NY/NJ needed help during Sandy. Question is, while NY is going about helping them and keeping in mind Texans' refusal to help in the past, why not ask them for something in return for NY's help?

When did Texas refuse to help NY?
