Am in agreement. As was stated, most places here are *Italian-American*, with Southern Italian influences. The South focuses more on those heavy dishes with tomato (although one can find *plenty* of light seafood dishes). The cuisine in the North is different, since they are influenced by France, Austria and Switzerland in some parts of Italy. They eat horse in some parts of Northern Italy, which is a direct influence from countries further North. In Alto Adige, can find würstel and bratwurst, just as you would in Austria, and at times, will hear more German than Italian.

Most people consider Southern Italy a part of Italy.
