One thing I see a lot of in NJ are Teslas. I see them often near Secaucus, Edison, Bergen, and most well to do areas and Tesla has charging stations at the parking lots of malls in NJ.
But in NYC, I can't think of anywhere they can have charging station other than inside parking lots and I dislike going into parking lots during the day. They are often difficult to get in and out due to traffic and I hate tourist drivers that never drove in a cramped NYC parking garage.
Teslas are also not as common in NYC, I don't see any in midtown or downtown much. Maybe 1 a week, but not daily at all.
Have not seen many Teslas on the highways in Brooklyn at all.
I nearly pulled a trigger on a Tesla Model S75D but I am gonna wait for a cheaper Model X.
I was outside today and nothing but rows of Uber/Lyft people in Honda/Toyota/Nissans. I did see a BMW i8 and many Priuses belonging to NYC Gov. Not one Tesla.
There are a bunch of Tesla, i3 & i8 in northwest Nassau and Eastern Queens.
Inside Central Park has some electric cars belonging to the parks department. You can see dozen cars charging up.
Some friends I personally know who lives in Hong Kong and China where gas is pricey owns a Tesla. They go get coffee once a week to charge up their car. No more visits to gas stations. They love it. If it can work there, I can see it working here especially if gas prices shoots up the roof in NY.
if deblasio was a true liberal/progressive/tree hugger, he should have been rolling out an electric grid for electric cars from day one of his adminstration. Imagine how much less pollution there would be with electric cars and trucks. None of that black soot coming indoors.
He should have also pushed for testing of self driving cars to see how well they would operate in a congested city environment.
I'm really interested in this as well. I'm thinking about trying to move my co-op towards it (simply offering charging in the parking complex), but I'm wondering what other people's experiences are.
