Hi. I am a single doctor relocating to Brooklyn for a job. I would like to know which areas are the nicest to live in. I'd prefer an area near restaurants, movie theatres, organic grocery stores, gyms, the subway... According to craigslist's apartment listings, it seems like Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope. Any thoughts? The good and bad of both/either?
Thanks.
I realize you're a dr., but depending on how much you actually make and/or pay on those lovely student loans you guys usually wind up having, those neighborhoods can be fairly price. They are nicer though. How much do you want to spend monthly?
West - if you can afford it, Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope are definitely two of the nicest areas to live in. Some other very nice areas are Carroll Gardens and Boerum Hill.
Check the average asking rents on those areas on craigslist (hint - ignore the ones that look much lower than the others as they are probably too good to be true, and just assume that the mean or high rents are accurate). If you can afford those then go for it -if not, come back on here and ask more questions.
I'm moving to Ocean Park way in Kensington, Brooklyn this week. I really don't know anything about the area so i would be really grateful if theres any advice anyone might have for me.
The Area seems pretty safe to me, hopefully this is true!
Does anyone also know of any online grocery Delivery websites??
Any advice about anything would be great!

For $2500 a month I am pretty sure you can get a studio or 1 bedroom in that price range in those areas. I don't live there, but I'm sure others can attest to that. For $2500/mo. you actually have a range of quite a few options. Check out Craigslist to get a better idea.
