This situation can become nasty. You need to ensure that the landlord is on board with you *deducting* such fees. You make it sound as if you have the *green light to do this*. Am not sure that's the case. If the landlord wants to use his/her own company, then what? You'll be out $350+ dollars. Re-read your lease down to the letter to confirm what *is* and *isn't allowed* and make no assumptions, otherwise, you may be on the hook.
I spoke to yet another person from the management company. The billing folks.
She admitted I am in the right and if I even decided to take this higher up any decisions would side with me. I made it clear I would send necessary receipts, but I was not going to foot the bill when I've been asking to have this resolved for two months now. I've called the building manager numerous times and he's yet to return any of my calls.
I told her the exterminators they send do nothing but kill a few with the poison they spread. I really don't care to take this higher up I need to.
Honestly, if your situation is anything like mine was with the ants, the exterminators aren't going to make much of a difference. I agree the thought of moving is massively annoying and TOTALLY unfair. In my case, it was my only option. I couldn't live like that, those damn ants were crawling all over the cabinets and the walls AFTER four exterminator visits. It was revolting. When I started seeing them in the bedroom, I cried. And this was in the winter! can you imagine how bad it would have been once it warmed up??
I even used Terro, which worked in my previous apartment when I had a small problem (ants were gone overnight never to return) and that didn't work. I realized at that point, there was no hope.
Try to see if the building will give you back some money due to the place being uninhabitable.
I should mention that the condo I left with the ants is STILL empty, and I moved out in February of 2014. the landlord must have foreclosed it and no one would buy/rent it afterwards. That's how bad it was. I don't know if the surrounding apartments were as bad, but I feel it must have been.
Look on Amazon for those plug in pest pest repellers. They work great with no muss or fuss. They also deter mosquitos, rodents, and regular roaches. They emit a sound that you can't hear but that the pests can't tolerate and they leave. Goid luck!

LOL I do think these work somewhat. I have them plugged into every room in my apartment. Some people think they're a scam, but I like mine. Also doubles as a nightlight
I was offered a "Second Floor" ML. THe floor was newly waxed and shiny but there were 2 waterbugs dead on their backs...it gave me pause.
\I ran down the nearby stircase and right into the compactor area,,,filled with garbage and bugs.
I turned it down, thinking goodbye Mitchell Lama. But then a half year later, I was called again for a higher floor (I had given up)...FINE. I'm there now and bugs are, I think, under control...except for the bed bug issues.

Yikes! Cant say I'd prefer to be dealing with those.

We will cross that bridge when we come to it.
