I am just curious, why do few people want to run for the mayor City of New York? I mean, there's just non stop of meeting and obviously tremendous amount of responsibility. Of course, money is good for a mayor, but what is so attractive for being a mayor?

Sorry if some of you think I am asking a stupid question.

If you're a politician, NYC mayor is a dead end job. None of the mayor in my lifetime (and I'm not young anymore) have ever move up to a higher position. And, also, much of NYC is run by NYS, so you're always eating crap from the governor (ask Bla about this.)

The mayor is just a political figure. He/she doesn't actually run the operation, that's what the deputy mayor's job to run all administrative and operational issues. He has a bunch of other deputys that handles other areas. This is why when they ask DeBlasio why isn't he back in NYC when there's a crisis? Well, he is informed but his deputys are the ones running the show handling matters.

As for why anyone would want to be mayor, a ton. You get to choose the direction of the city, setting taxes and contracts. DeBlasio is rewarding himself right now with all the kickbacks he gets from giving contracts to his business friends.

Deblasio has aspiration to be on the national stage to blab about his socialist/communist agenda. If he had his way, he would tax everyone extra 25% of their income for low income housing agenda to start.

It is WIDELY known that Gracie Mansion has a huge vault of treasure buried under it.

Living their gives you access to digging while you are not busy doing Mayoral Duties.

Bloomberg didn't need the money so he didn't live there- but BdB is working tirelessly at digging deep enough to find the BURIED GOLD.

Presumably all serious New Yorkers have ideas, dreaming of how they could "fix" the city. Even people here have ideas all the time.
