The new trains have been around for 18 years already

I think the elevated train (#4) is an abomination. It hasn't been available for uptown transport after 9:45 am for months due to track work. The skipped stations are from (149th St to Burnside Avenue). Don't do track work. Save money.Tear it down from 161st St to Woodlawn. Install a new, sleek, fast, monorail. It will eliminate that ancient, dark and dingy, and noisy elevated train atmosphere. Let the sun shine in!

So stop doing necessary work and tear down a structure and build a monorail which won't be able to connect with the current subway which will disrupt the lives of thousands of people just to appease your eyes? Gotcha.

You can modernize without tearing out the whole thing for an incompatible system.
