I know right!
I love the days in winter when it feels like 8 degrees out. I layer up, hop on the train and go to trader joes. Have almost the whole store to myself. I have no issue doing things in the cold. You bundle up its not that hard.

One major drawback to when NYC had really cold winters and or much snow is getting home from the store, unpacking groceries, and then realizing you forgot something.

Depending upon what it was and circumstances (needed the thing to make dinner, having a party, or whatever), you had no choice but to put all that gear on again and head out the door.

Don't think many living in NYC today, especially Manhattan realize all this free home delivery is rather a recent incarnation. Ditto stores open all hours including 24/7. That and often you had to travel several blocks to find a decent supermarket/grocery store.

Knew people who moved down to the Wall Street/City Hall area back in the 1990's or even 1980's; they had nearly nothing down there grocery shopping wise. You either headed up to Canal Street or above, and or took PATH into New Jersey.

I cannot fit any more food into either pantry or fridge, so I have to stop shopping and start eating down the apocalypse ready tonnage of food.

None obviously have truly experienced a NYC winter where the Hawk was out for weeks on end.
I've experienced cold where the pidgeons were being found dead in snow piles for weeks on end #Chicago
