It said something like, “due to high demand fares are more than usual”. UberX was like 70 bucks.
I cancelled it because I was waiting for 30 minutes even though the application showed the car arriving in one minute. But I seriously waited for 31 minutes.
I just took a yellow cab- costed me $47 bucks to inwood as the A train was making all local stops and ends at 168 street “due to construction”.
So you paid $47 for that?!? You can't walk to the 1 train where you're at in Inwood, or do you just loathe local trains that much?

For some reason, I get really tired after 11:00pm - like “my eyes feel like lead” tired. I don’t want to fall asleep on a one hour local commute. Plus the 1 train stops all the way on the East Side of Broadway- that’s too much of a walk for me in the cold as I live in the furthest of the west side of Inwood - where there are no more streets but the park.

The main reason I gave up on Inwood was because the transportation sucks. You live or die by the A train, and if that goes down forget it, not to mention how slow it is for an express train. I suppose you could take Metro-North at Marble Hill, but that may involve some serious backtracking depending on how far west and north you are in Inwood.

Agree 100%. I can no longer deal with the commute. My acceptance into my current housing lottery would be a gift straight from God. It's in midtown *and* walking distance (5 minutes) to my office!

Now I understand why your willing to give up your old, cheap RS apartment and pay more for one of these lottery apartments. You live in Inwood! To be honest your monthly expenses may not be much more now due to you taking cabs and ubers. Hope you get the apartment.

what would you do with the extra time that was previously spent on commuting?

I still don't know why anyone would want to fork over any money to this company, which has proved itself to be despicable at every level.
