Hi! Considering buying a multifamily townhouse and living with my mom (in her 60s) and husband. We are looking to have kids in the next couple of years. While the town house is beautiful (much nicer and larger than we could afford elsewhere in NYC boroughs) and in the right price range, we are a bit reluctant because the safety in the neighborhood is different from block-to-block. I want my mom to feel comfortable growing old wherever we decide to move.

Any feedback would help. Thanks.

Right near RV, that's hands down one of the roughest projects in Brooklyn.

You will hear gunshots, that's almost guaranteed

If you're not comfortable with living in the hood I say don't move.

Also, is there a driveway, or off-street parking? Because parking on the street over there sucks too, it can be hard finding a spot late at night.

Have you ever heard Bed Stuy's slogan, gentrifier?

It's "Bed Stuy, Do or Die"

If you don’t fill comfortable being in a changing diverse neighborhood you have plenty of other options just gotta pay more or get less

Park slope, bay ridge, boerum hill, fort Greene/Clinton hill

Due to gentrifiers that slogan is a joke now

If you are considering bed stuy

Lewis and Halsey is far enough from the projects and where all the gentrifiers connect. Popular saraghina restaurant is on that corner

I would suggest walking around the neighborhood with your mother. But from this post you don’t seem like a good fit
