Saving grace is the Hawk (wind) isn't that bad or non existent, at least in much of the city.

Christmas Eve through day and onwards at least parts of SI and NJ were one was things were different. Wind was BADDDD! Driving on NJT you could feel the vehicle move with gusts of wind. Thankfully avoided the VZNB so didn't get to experience the joys of that wind tunnel.

Get used to it. It's staying this way for at least a week and a half.

All you need is a heavy jacket, thermal underwear pants, gloves, and a skully hat.

I was at Rockefeller center last night with all that gear you mention and I was STILL cold!! I could've used a balaclava and some hand warmers last night.

Went to lunch yesterday...COLD.

But today is a day to stay in. Right now, it is 11F in Central Park with a wind chill of 2F. Cold wind blowing in through my AC and I am too lazy to seal it up so my feet are cold. Both convectors working full blast and barely holding 70 degrees in the apartment.
From what I can see, there are very few people on the street this morning.

I think the coldest I experienced in NYC over the past decades was a reading of 6F long ago.

I remember that day, I think it was Feb 2013. I remember specifically because I had a million errands to do that day and was out and about. That was a cold, cold day. The wind made it a million times worse. I was okay (I know how to bundle up) but any exposed skin (my cheeks) was in pain from the wind chill.
I'll take 100 degree weather over this.
