planning on going to college in New York city after community college. I've lived there for a short period of time and loved it. But Just wanting to hear the best way to be able to find a good enough job to help pay for rent, school expenses ( study abroad program) kinda winging it on my own I know a lot of people have help from there parents but I don't ( ask at your own risk). Currently live in Kansas City and there is a bartending school that does job placement in many cities New York being one of them was thinking about doing that but open to suggestions?!?!? Any good jobs anyone recommends for college students who have to pay rent go to school etc...

I drove a taxi cab pretty much full time while also going to college full time here in NYC. I did it through undergrad and grad years. It was fascinating and did the trick financially.Had no debt when I finished .
I was a sociology major so it was kind of like field work Drove a lot of nights...late nights.

Are you sure that's realistic, to get a job, without having a degree, that pays enough for tuition and living expenses?

Probably a good point, especially with tuition these days. I got a scholarship from Columbia so didn’t have to worry about tuition.

I would say go for the cheap tuition college, like one of the cuny school, and get some financial aid if you qualify. Is not going to be easy for you.

I think if you turn out to be good at bartending and have a good personality, you can make decent money in NYC doing that. Of course that will take away from studying and homework time.

I was a bartender for a long time (much of it in NYC) and never knew a single colleague who had gone to bartending school. You can make decent money doing it, but you also can't just walk into the better gigs without experience.
