Well there have been a few incidents along Broadway (robberies and a murder for one) that have made me pause. I've been along Broadway numerous times, but I'm always alert, probably more alert than I am in say Parkchester.

That and the fact that Riverdale was developed as an upper class enclave going back to beginning, so it's always been different in a way. Think of all of the people that lived in Riverdale... JFK, Mark Twain, Eliot Spitzer, Derek Jeter and so on, not to mention all of the Law and Order episodes shot there. It was put on the map many moons ago in comparison to say Bedford Park. lol

I'm not trying to rag on Riverdale, but I don't like suburban development so it's not for me. You do you pierrepont!

Uh huh

What were other historically nice/affluent neighborhoods in the Bronx?

They won't let you in? Are you too swarthy?

A lot of parts of the Bronx was built for people of means. The Grand Concourse has beautiful architecture and apartments. The buildings are similar on Bedford Park Blvd. There are quite a few big, ornate (or originally so) houses the borough, including my area and Norwood. The area around Bronx Community College has some beautiful houses. Kingsbridge too. The western part of the borough was constructed earlier time than the eastern portion so the architecture can be quite different. The South Bronx has some of the newer construction if that is something you like.

Mott Haven for instance looks like a mix of old and new. A lot of the newer construction is tacky looking IMO.

Grand Concourse does have some great architecture, but I thought it was built for the middle class.
