Residential development along the Greenpoint waterfront might not be as widespread as neighboring Williamsburg, but the new 40-story tower at 21 India Street is setting a sky-scraping standard. Simply called The Greenpoint, it will host condominiums, market-rate rentals, and affordable rental units (available to qualifying New Yorkers only).
Problem with living here is if you win an affordable apartment, all your money you save on rent will go to car rides cause the train is far away and then it's just the G train. Yes they have the water ferry near by but for most it won't be that convenient.

Far away? There is a G train entrance on India Street and Manhattan Avenue, 2 blocks away. It's about a 5 minute walk. Also, there are two buses, the B62 and the B32 that will take you to the 7 train which is also a 5 minute walk from the building. I live a block away from this new building. Commuting from Greenpoint is one of the reasons people move here. It's a breeze.
Nice building, the area isn’t sitting well with me
What's wrong with the neighborhood? Greenpoint has always been a very safe neighborhood. It's totally hipster now....the new Williamsburg so to speak.
