South Bronx Luxury Development Advertised as “Affordable” With $2,000 a Month Studios
MOTT HAVEN-Yet another new development has entered the New York City Housing Connect affordable housing lottery but the latest entry is anything but affordable to the local, existing community.
Sure, probably along Bruckner Blvd where there are a few trendy restaurants and bars. But probably not spread throughout Mott Haven. Either way, lets see what happens. The sheer number of NYCHA complexes in Mott Haven tells me its gonna be quite some time. Port Morris is a bit more isolated, closer to the water, and has a direct walking path connection to Randalls Island. I wonder if that'll be redeveloped too.
Gentrification in the Bronx will take many years, but the idea always made sense to me. Anything with access to public transportation should be a hot spot. South Bronx may remain bad, but a chance to build out other areas with high risers and attract middle class people getting pushed out elsewhere.
