You know IG and 125 Worth St. reads these threads right? They have a whole IT Social Media team whose job is to be on the net all day watching and investigating DSNY employees.
Don't be surprised that you'd be the first to get extended probation for BS you say online. You are not anonymous.
You will have to get the uniform by the end of the first week. They want you to get boots asap, so you can buy them before class starts, they have to be black, no steel tip toes, waterproof would be best.
Otherwise first few days, you can wear regular jeans and tshirts.

Everybody got different feet so feel out a couple pairs and see what works for you. Best boot I've ever worn are red wing truhikers. Its like having pillows on your feet all day but the soles go quick and they cost about $250. You also can't replace the soles so once they go, boots are garbage.
I can only imagine the uniformed shorts are good for relays, otherwise I already cut through my pants, and im just a few weeks in. FBF supervisors frown on shorts, you can cut your legs on sharp objects, broken glass or while walking inbetween cars tipping a license plate.

Invest in boots fellas, those toes and everything attached to them have a long career ahead.

I have the same ones, style #8690, the soles come out, already had to dry them a few times after getting drenched head to toe, great times!
