Yeah, I left that job to come to DSNY. I actually loved being an UPR I became a step-up sergeant within 6 months and was making over 70k a year after being on the job for less than a year. The only reason I left is because of my age and how long will it take me to hit retirement. Plus dsny has a way better retirement plan. Anyone waiting to get into sanitation should take that UPR exam because your time starts counting towards your retirement on the front. And Urban Park rangers hire provisional until your civil service exam is certified and that time counts towards your pension retirement also for the city.

I work out of town at 12 all the time, its not as bad as people make it sound. Spoke to many new guys, they make steady truck because they do collection clock round. Any other garage with a good/clean district will be senior. If your new and looking to make truck daily, 12 isn’t anywhere as bad as the Bronx. And located central enough to easily commute anywhere from BK or SI.

Appreciate it , thanks ! Coming from the north we rarely get sent there, so appreciate the input. I was there only once during passover , but I cant make a true assessment based on that one time working there lol

Yup, I was there for the passover clean up too. From my short time on the job, too many times my experience differed from others opinions. Everyone’s preference is different, so stick to whats good for you, and if you don’t like a garage, transferring is always an option.

Hahaha exactly enjoy that steady truck and a hernia. Oh yeah and dealing with the BK12 natives and their mini-van traffic jams, scared foreman who will be constantly asking for favors because Schlomo made a phone call to his Rabbi, but hey you're steady!
