Good luck to everyone coming in. Make sure you get to Floyd Bennett field early (aim for 5:30 or even earlier to play it safe). They don’t mess around there with timing. Also get your money together because you’ll need to drop a pretty penny on your uniform and what not. The job is great though so congrats and enjoy!

Have u been hired yet ?

If you're in sept class, you're prob gonna end up In a bronx garage or upper Manhattan garage anyway. If you sign nites for a 12-8 shift you'll prob make it every night and be on baskets. But even tho u sign nites for a 12-8 shift u can still be bounced to 4-12 shift which happens alot especially more towards end of week. You will rarely make a 6-2 shift early on. And as far as moving up in ranks, it doesn't go by garage. Take the promo test which is offered every 4 years, department wide. The next test for supervisor if u haven't signed up for the one next month, will be in 4 years.
Good luck

Yes midnite to 8am.
Its for the whole shift, but first year of night diff per shift is a whopping $15 .
