You're right. I learned the hard way. "They say" you can machine wash down as long as you put it through delicate cycle and later place three tennis balls along with your coat in the dryer. (Supposedly the tennis balls tossing & pounding against your coat when drying will make the down all fluffy and nice again).

Wrong. That down coat was never the same again and I had to throw it away.
You can't machine wash a down coat no matter what "they say" to the contrary.

Machine wash my ass. Ruined 1 North Face that way, never again. The original bubble coat too. It was never puffy again.

Exactly! That's the thing with down. Once it gets drenched (either by washing or wearing it during a downpour). That's it. It's dead.

Well public garbage cans are always overflowing, things get blown around in the wind & of course there are a ton of litterbugs.

Give me back my broken night
My mirrored room, my secret life
It's lonely here
There's no one left to torture
Give me absolute control
Over every living soul
And lie beside me, baby
That's an order!

Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's left
And stuff it up the hole
In your culture
Give me back the Berlin wall
Give me Stalin and St. Paul
I've seen the future, brother
It is murder

Leonard Cohen once wrote a song about this.

Getting into M-L is easier than getting into a lottery apartment, so what did we win really

All we did was sit on our asses and wait.

There's no denying the grime in many places. People toss everything on the ground, despite numerous trash cans around. Lots of pee in corners in a lot of places, spitting is common everywhere too.
