Hi all,

Need advise on a recent rejection letter I received.
The letter states inconclusive evidance that I reside at my address because I am not on the lease.

The apt belongs to my mother and I live with her, I've lived at this address for 30 plus years, and don't think this is a legit reason for them to deny me.
I mean, isn't this like a normal thing in NYC?

All of my bills and license are under my address because I have no other address.

What advise can you give me to help appeal this nonsense excuse of a rejection?

Thank you

That is weird. You can be a legal occupant and not be on the lease. Seems to me your mom could write you a letter stating that you live there, and that, combined with bank and other official documents showing your address, should be enough.

These people are idiots and are thrown because you aren't named on your mom's lease. Again, where do they find these marketing agents? Do what macnyc2003 said, and in addition have your mom say you've lived there for 30 years. Your rejection is especially ridiculous because your address, as you say, is on your driver's license, which is a government document, as well as on your bills.

Write a careful appeal in a oourteous tone (not that these idiots deserve that given how bad they are at their jobs, but do it anyway), and attach copies of all your bills and your driver's license, with a letter from your mom (it wouldn't hurt to get the letter notarized if she has time to go with you to do that). If the marketing agent rejects you again, appeal to HPD, where they're slightly brighter, note I said slightly. Good luck. I'm sure it will work out.

Yes, get the letter notarized. Your bank branch should be able to do it. Good luck!
