Mayor Bill de Blasio also lashed out at driver Dorothy Bruns, citing eight camera-based tickets for speeding in school zones and running red lights that she racked up between July 2016 and April 2017.

The NYPD revoked Dorothy Bruns’ driver’s license Tuesday, the day after she ran a red light and fatally mowed down 1-year-old Joshua Lew and 4-year-old Abigail Blumenstein and injured their moms.

The NYPD has no record of Bruns having any traffic violations, law-enforcement sources said.

But city records show that her car racked up 12 violations since 2016 alone for such offenses as speeding in school zones and blowing red lights. Two of those red-light infractions were in Brooklyn — both in one week last April. It was unclear if she was behind the wheel for any of those infractions.

Surveillance video from Monday’s scene showed the moment that Bruns’ white Volvo sedan plowed into the group of stroller moms around 12:40 p.m.

The footage shows her car first stopping at a red light on Ninth Street at Fifth Avenue. It then appears to slowly inch into the crosswalk.

After a few more seconds, with the light still red and the cross traffic on Fifth dying down for a minute, Bruns drives across the avenue and into the crosswalk on the other side.

The Volvo dragged Joshua’s stroller under its wheels halfway down the street. His mother, Lauren Lew, 33, was injured, as was one of her best friends, Broadway star Ruthie Ann Miles, 34, whose daughter, Abigail, died. Miles is pregnant.

On Feb. 13, Bruns posted on her Facebook page, “Guess who’s cleared and going back to work this ***** I’m so excited.’’

Arturo Sanchez, 58, who lives around the corner from the crash scene, blasted Bruns.

“If you know you’re sick and have seizures, you’re not suppose to be driving at all,’’ he said. “She needs to be charged. It’s her responsibility.”

Sanchez said that right after the crash, Bruns “didn’t look like she had a seizure at all . . . She was saying, ‘Hello, hello, what happened? What happened?’ ”

He added: “When you have a seizure you’re out. And she was active

Bruns told cops she was creeping up a bit at the intersection in anticipation of the red light changing and then accidentally hit the accelerator while the moms and kids were in the crosswalk, sources said.

I can't find the exact article, but the Village Voice did a big piece on how, if the driver stays on the scene, there's a good chance he'll get off scot-free.

Usually a driver that stays on the scene is in a good frame of mind tho, that's why, cause they're conscious that something happened, even if they dont know exactly what, they know something happened that is requiring them to not leave the scene

It's still rare but people have been criminally charged if they are HIV positive, and knowing this, have unprotected sex witbout disclosing that information.

A similar concept is at play here with a woman who knows she gets seizures trying to drive. She knew there was a possibility she could hurt someone but decided to put her convenience above other people's safety.

In both cases the perpetrators need to be jailed for life... or at least until their 80th birthday...

The HIV positive cases are built upon the concept of consent largely, though. That someone didn't truly consent to have sex with you as they didn't know you had an incurable, highly contagious disease is the basis for many of those prosecutions. Then there are some laws that criminalize the practice on its own.

We are dealing with no such case here, assuming that the woman was properly medicated and following doctors orders (I don't know if she was, though). It would be a terrible day in my view if someone could be criminally or civilly charged for having a medical emergency when they were otherwise medicated and cleared to partake in routine, everyday activities like driving.

The council speaker is also echoing the mayor's call that the driver be jailed; he believes that her past record of speeding warrants jail time, which is concerning to me as they were civil offenses/tickets that they likely paid off or else she'd be arrested for outstanding warrants, etc. But, as tragic as this situation is and as much as I wouldn't want this woman on the road, her past ticket activity should have zero bearing on whether she gets charged in this case. No, we need to look at whether her most recent actions that led to/caused the fatalities are criminal and go from there. And, from the preliminary evidence being released, it doesn't look like she broke any laws.

Driver charged with manslaughter. Doctors told her to not drive on three separate occasions due to her health condition.

This is happening too frequently,or just reported more often.

Kid in Jackson heights was killed last week . Elderly drive got the 9 year old kid and the mom.

25 mph works when you do 25 mph. Driving slow used to be cool at one time. But now ,everyone is rushing to reach the red light.

If she were drunk/drugged she gets jail,
She can always plea with medicine, but maybe she is just a psycho.
