The only guy from Atlanta that is successful today is Killer Mike from Run The Jewels. Outkast, Goodie Mob and Binkis all haven't put anything out in years.
Gentrification also make NYC kinda lame in term of culture the hipsters kinda dull in personality. Back in early 2007 people use love NYC because culture and energy not sure if it is there anymore.
I disagree, hipsters bring a lot of good amenities.
He's the hottest rapper out of New York City at the moment and hails from Bushwick, Brooklyn. He has over 200 million views on YouTube and mind you he just became famous in October. He has a lot of support and protection. His songs at gangster rap and hyper aggressive.
Just look at his videos... (Not safe for work... strong language)
Correction. BILLION views on YouTube and every song has gone platinum. I'm late to this thread but I'm def a fan of his music. As a Gen Xer its very Onyx like. Mind numbing nonsense. That's the fun of it. Anyway. Millennials love the music and they don't move like the older heads do.

He hasn't released a song in two years, hip hop has largely moved on from him and there are other guys who the youngsters follow.

I respectfully disagree. This isn't back when I grew up where you needed a radio station to break your music. This is the age of social media. He just received a 10 million dollar contract to make music. When he comes out with something on YouTube it will break the net...... Half the world wants to see him fail and the other half wants to see him succeed. The old rules of hip hop don't apply anymore. At this point his life is a movie and people will pay to see it. Give me more tracks like Kooda, Bebe and Skittlz.

He can't make songs like Kooda anymore. If he gets popular again, it will be via reggaeton and not his hood stuff.
Sure he can. White folks don't care about Treway or any of that nonsense. He can scream something else and they will love it.
He got famous because he had tons of inner city black guys bumping his music. If only his loyal Mexican fanbase listened to him, he wouldn't have had nearly the same level of popularity.
