I love houses that are in disrepair. That apt e184th apartment would be perfect for the buyer who knows what to do with it. It has beautiful sun drenched rooms with large windows and doors. It seems you can fit 96 inch doors. The bathroom also has a beautiful large window. I am sure under all those carpets are beautiful hardwood floors.

I never buy renovated houses. We always rip them apart and do full reno to our taste. Houses like this one with good bones and layout are hidden gems. Everyone is so put off by its condition that we are able to swoop in and get a good deal.

I also think it's a better idea to renovate yourself as long as the purchase price makes that worth it.

Did you see the toilet in the one on 178 st ? Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
All they show is a piece of the lobby, the door to the apartment and the terlet. Beautiful presentation.
Seal the deal on these dumps and give us the dirt on the financials.

Sweat equity is overrated

I'd rather spend my Saturday drinking beer instead of putting up drywall

To each their own, I'm lazy as hell when I wanna be

Hire someone. At least you have more control and aren't paying top dollar to someone whose goal is to make a profit in the short term. The interests of someone who plans to live in a property aren't necessarily in alignment with the interests of an investor.

Oh definitely, I would hire a contractor. I'm just averse to doing it myself.
