I have a question and was wondering if anyone can offer assistance.
I had my interview for an apartment via the NYC Housing Lottery. I signed all the required documents. I had all the required documents copied already. I was thanked for being prepared and said it was the quickest interview the worker ever had. The only thing I had to do was email them my W-2 and tax forms from the prior year, which I did the next day and the day after. The interview was on March 22. Here’s my situation:
When I applied last year, I was working and had an additional income of my daughters’ SSI and the child support I’m receiving from her father. But now I have an open public assistance case and a CITYFEPS voucher and still have my daughters’ SSI and child support. I still live within the community board. Also, my credit score is (from credit sesame: 551. Credit Karma says 541 and 543. With credit karma being the one updated March24). Both are up from last year whe it was 450.
Does anyone know what I can expect or should I count on being denied because of change of situation and poor credit?

You will not be denied. One thing about having a CityFEPS voucher, landlords don’t go off your credit because they know regardless they’ll be getting paid from the city with no problem because of the voucher and when you have a voucher, the income guidelines don’t apply to you. As long as your voucher amount is not less than the rent amount you’ll be perfectly fine.
What development did you apply for? I also have a cityfeps voucher and hope to be offered a two bedroom. But I’m not from the community board though so I’m afraid I’ll be waitlisted. Fingers crossed I’m not cuz right now my son and I are homeless and we need this
Hi everyone I'm in a smiliar situation...I currently have a CityFeps voucher (which covers the rent for said apartment) and was recently selected for an apartment lottery I applied to in January 2018 back then I had a job but it was a temporary gig, would they deny me now that I'm unemployed looking for work?...Also were you guys found eligible and now living in those apartments?
I pay taxes every year this is the second time I've been unemployed in 13 years which was when I had a high risk pregnancy and was bed ridden and recently for 8 weeks. My contract I had with my previous job came to an end once the project came to a completion. What's with the rude comment about taxpayers paying for housing? You people don't know what some people be going through before you open your mouth and blast someone.

It was not a comment, it was a question. Should Section 8 funds be used to pay an already subsidized "affordable housing" unit?
