Would you ever move near here? Why or why not? (Maybe 5 mins away from the zoo)
What neighborhood/ area would the Bronx zoo be considered in? (Other than the “south bronx” )

I would consider it West Farms on the southern end and Belmont on the western end (with the eastern end being the Pelham Parkway neighborhood).

I used to live around this area. Not good to raise kids. The 2/5 train nearby but commute on this train is horrible, 1 1/2 to get to midtown. Really bad.

That’s a big chunk of real estate. There are 5 or 6 different neighborhoods surrounding the zoo on the East,South and West. None of them are in the South Bronx by the way. What neighborhood are you talking about?

I wouldn't consider it the South Bronx at all. I also don't find the neighborhoods around to be that bad, either. Pelham Parkway is nice, Belmont is rough around the edges, but not scary by a long shot. Up around the Botanical Gardens and Fordham U. is decent, too. I wouldn't stray much west of Webster Ave. (Fordham, Kingsbridge), though.

The subway is a long commute, but the Botanical Gardens and Fordham stops on Metro North are right there and like 15-20 minutes to Grand Central.
