Credit Check and Background Check/Moving in cost (affordable apartments) (rent, crime)

I was wondering how does this process go. I have a credit score of 688, and have never committed a crime in my life. Could I still be rejected for an apartment for any other reason?

I was also wondering before I move into this new apartment, what do I have to pay? Just first months rent and security deposit?

To OP: They can't reject you for your credit score alone, but they can reject for any other reason. So don't get too invested in this process. You should look at your debt-to-income ratio, and read the Marketing Guidelines, which pop right up in a Google search.
