I got lucky last night put in 10 dollars in a slot, and got a $900 hit, I went to collect my winnings and was giving a W2-G form for taxes.

Does anyone know how much taxes will be taken out? I heard it's 33% flat tax between state and federal.

How do I offset my future losses against the winnings, through out the year?

no one can tell you . it gets added to all your other income and then subject to any deductions and exemptions you have .

it is not based on the amount you won but on your total tax situation . you can ball park about 1/3 for fed ,state and local but that is about as conservative as you may want to get .

not sure how proof of loss works when deducting losses for gambling , you have to google that .

If you are a professional gambler you usually get receipts for wins/losses and have to keep a ledger for when you get audited.

we went to resorts in queens last month . what a dump . i would sooner use a gas station bathroom .

the line to cash out had two nasty cashiers and a line 45 minutes long . people were complaining about the long wait and instead of appeasing the group like a good customer service person should they answered people so nasty .

i won 90 bucks and left . i won't go back again .

If he got a W2 for it, the IRS computers will be expecting it to be reported, and he'll get flagged if he doesn't.

They don't withhold taxes from casino winning for US residents. But if the IRS gets a notice, you will have to pay it.

That is old school NYC rudeness. It’s gone from most of Manhattan but is still around in the outerboroughs.

Did they get your SS #? If they didn't, you have nothing to worry about. If they did, you can add at end of year.

You can't claim losses unless you are a professional gambler. Leisure or novice gambling does not count. Find out your tax bracket.

I haven't been there in a while. In total I think I have a a net profit of $7,200 from my visits. I only played a few table games. Roulette and Bacarrat and some Blackjack. Never remember filling out a tax form.

I think table games differ from the slots? I had to give my Social Security every time I cashed out over $600 but never filed a form.

I was living rent free with Auntie at the time so I was a fake "high roller."
My biggest win was when I laid out $1,500 on the 3rd row and actually hit. Paid out $4500. I ran out of there so fast.
