Looking at Inwood, wash hts, ham hts, fort greene
Am trying to move back to NYC from az. Getting house ready to sell etc. We both are disabled, applied for lottery but put us on low priority as we are not residents. So have to get apt can afford around 1500-1600 prefer 1br. So which city is safer and what streets, closer to hudson river? Would like area lots of stores, delis, etc. I'm on waler so need elevated bldg and close to handicap runaway station. So if anyone knows of specific blogs would appreciate that too. Have pet. Talked to one agent but kind of lost interest when I told him we had bankruptcy so I called insurent takes to a gentleman and said we could make it work for guarantor.
Any advice appreciated.

The bottom line is, Don't move here from Arizona for a chance at a lottery apartment.

Just don't.

You cannot take your chances on a lottery apartment that you may or may not be called for. People seem to think that just because they apply they’re guaranteed to get a apt for the building they want. It does not work like that

Fort Greene isn’t doable at that budget even for a studio. You might have a chance of something in Washington Heights with an elevator though likely east of Broadway so a bit further from the river. Good luck!

On your budget you’d be lucky to rent a tiny studio in Brooklyn or Bronx.

Why do you want to move here exactly? You are on a limited income. NYC is NOT the place for you.

No money? Check

Low rent budget? Check

Putting all of their hopes in a random housing lottery? Check

Actual preferences on where they want to live? Check

Terrible grammar? Check

You should move to NY ASAP!!!

Long story but hubby has lived in Hells kitchen his whole life and me 20 years. We moved to AZ 4 yrs ago when I went thru cancer treatment and had to go on disability so I lost my income. My husband was hit by car 3 years before so has traumatic brain injury, can't drive but can function somewhat. Now I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer 3 years ago. I'm stable and beating the odds. so we want to go back home so I can get back to my medical team at my Sinai (where used to work) and if and when something does happen to me Steve will know his way around the city, subway, bus, etc. So that's why I want to move back and try for the lottery. Have qualified for a few.
So there is my story guys. Any help appreciated!
