I was here while Bloomburg was in and there was definitely homeless people on the train and in the stations. Now I agree that the homeless should be placed into shelters, or even better institutionalized and rehabilitated if possible, and need to be worked out of being homeless, but the idea that there will be throngs of homeless in them now without pushback at some point seems unlikely to me.

The subways also don’t change the fact that the west coast cities have weather that’s far more conducive to living on the streets.

You accidentally left out the part of my post in your quote of me about how dog**** the housing policy comparison is. Let me reiterate that for you. That half of the article trying to draw a parallel in housing policy between the two cities is some real dog****.

That’s not a flip flop. They were interested in what Bernie offered, European style socialism. Hillary did not and could not offer that.

So they did not vote for her during the general election.

People who make under a certain amount of money don’t make student loan payments. So people with menial jobs just fill out a form that shows the amount of taxes they paid prior and they pay nothing on their student loans. After 25 years, the debt is forgiven. If those Black people have low level government jobs, as many Black people do, they can make no payments on their student loans for 10 years and the debt is forgiven. This is thanks to Obama.

Besides NYC Black are well acquainted with working off the books and bitcoins and cryptocurrencies has maids such money even easier.

It’s the “legit” white person who is struggling to pay off debt while working in NYC who struggles the most.

Oh Black students from the Caribbean and Africa can just return to their countries of origin. Debt collectors cannot collect there.

You realize how long the waitlist for government jobs are in this city. That’s the issue, they tell black People to get the city jobs, it’s one directional while others groups outlook is way more vast in opportunities. You shouldn’t have six figures in student loan debt and aspiring to get a city job that requires a test for admission every year rather than a college degree.

From what I see those legit white people are rare. If you can afford to go out every other weekend, vacation etc no way are you at the bottom of the struggling barrel in this city. I’m not saying student loan debt isn’t an issue however as a society we are gravitating away from college as the end all due to the issues millennials are facing now. The next generation will not make the same mistakes, be more savvy and hands on. Not fall for the ridiculous motion that any degree equates to a high paying job

The student loan forgiveness program is great but also a catch 22. I know a young woman who just became a cop, they are taking almost $700 every check from her. She can barely survive with what she has left to pay rent. Also if you have private loans you won’t be able to do the program

I remember when we were barhopping down in the LES, Bernie was doing some midnight rally in Manhattan over on Canal against the banks. I'm just thinking, wtf does he think he's doing, trying to rally on their turf. You don't go into a rival gangs territory trying to start a war, that just ends up getting you killed, and go figure he lost to Hillary in NYC.

I'm likely one of the few people who attended NYU that tends more fiscally conservative and find rousing because of social issues, at least in particular nowadays where it's honestly not anywhere as bad as it was, a political rouse and rather distasteful. You have to thank growing up in Chicago that I rarely if ever vote democrat, that party is just so predatory. Republican generally is terrible too though. All politicians are crooks. Maybe I'm more Libertarian than I give myself credit for haha.

I also paid off my student loans a year after college, fck that noise.

When are people gonna realize a actual person in "power" has little control. They are a puppet on strings for many many other people to control and be the face of the public.
Sure, like de Blasio really gives a damn about the poor. Nothing that he's been providing funding for in terms of housing is really for the poor or working class, and if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. The liberals are getting what they voted for. They don't stop and frisk. They think it's ok for people to pis* in the street, and smoke weed too, so why not? The streets have never been filthier with homeless people all over the place begging.

Dude, I went out every weekend in NYC. It dies not cost a lot if money to buy a lot of drinks at a dive bar in places like the Lower East Side. When you get hungry you can go to a cheap ethnic restaurant or a pizza place. Those young white people are not spending g that much money by going out every weekend. You’re really out of the loop.

Food may be cheap, but taxis sure as hell aren't. How do you explain the ones I see hopping in and out of cabs and bar hoping along 3rd Avenue? Are they broke young white folks too? I dunno... You could be right, but I don't eat at cheap places. I do Stout by MSG and some other beer places like the Ginger Man, and I always go for the imported beers (Duvel, Chimay Blue, Rochefort 10, etc.). I can't drink Bud or that other garbage. When I'm in Ginger Man, there's nothing but young whites drinking there. They don't look rich, but none of the beer options are cheap there.

You use your credit cards for taxis. I did that as a grad student. Got wasted every weekend and if I was far from home I took a taxi.

It does not cost a lot of money........

You can go out every weekend on a basic office job or on a restaurant job. I know plenty of whites people who do.

LMAO... And how much money does that entail (taxis, eating out and getting smashed)? I know what it entails for me...

Dude, you will see lots of young white kids buying pizza for a dollar or cheap ethnic food for ten dollars or less. Spend day 30 dollars on drinks in a dive bar. Most taking the subway or if they live close by way. It yeah, let’s give up to 20 for a cab.

That’s 60 dollars and a person not making much money can do that every Friday. Of course some do it every Friday and Saturday. That’s just 120 dollars.

We talking about young people, not people who want to eat at Whoke Goods all the tine. Your average young white partier does not have that much money.
