I don't understand how can they be always in a financial crisis when they still running old ass trains and millions of people ride the trains/cross the bridges everyday, constantly increasing fares and tolls, and cut out most of the token booths out of all the stations.

Who the hell is embezzling funds? Someone need to take a closer look!!

It's the workers who keep complaining that they don't make enough. They NEVER get enough, despite some of the making six figures a year. They "need" a raise because everything is going up. Well who in the hell do they think is paying the fare increases? The middle and upper class people get robbed. The poor NEVER pay. They just steal service by fare beating and getting half-fare Metrocards on our dime.

No Stop blaming the unionized workers. It's time to blame management. There's ton of do nothing managers that bloat the MTA that doesn't appropriate the funds to the proper areas. The Hourly's are just doing their jobs and their is a toxic culture as well. 99% of them want to just do their jobs and go home. They are not to blame for mismanagement at the MTA so look at management first before the hourly's.

Unless NYS and or NYC pony up there are only a few ways to bring thing in line; fare and or toll hikes, along with various service cuts/reductions.
In all of this there is no mention of the fact that MTA's costs of operations are multi times those of comparable subways systems in places like London and Paris. Of course not as there are corrupt contractors that must be paid. I suggest that people examine what GCT looks like after 1 1/2 years of "work" at the subway stop, I bet costing hundreds of millions of $$.

That's right. They all work very hard. That's why there's only one guy worker while 6 or 7 of them stand around and watch him. You're right there is mismanagement and the workers sure as hell take advantage to the max.

And what about the contractors who are highly inefficient and corrupt?

Unfortunately, that will never happen.
I see only the unions to blame. Not corrupt top level management and crony deals with private contractors and vendors!

I am always amazed how mediocre broke pocket people always blame the workers and never the managers. Yes a bunch of coders eking out a living, or whatever so many posters here do. Need someone to look down on so they do towards blue collar workers when its the guys with the high 6 figures who are usually the problem. And those drunk with power like our mayor and governor.
