I'm sure they are there. That old movie theatre that recently closed on 62nd and Broadway.... I would go there, but eat elsewhere beforehand and bring in snacks if anything. Being below street level, and given how old the place was, I'm sure they had some. Any place that smells I definitely avoid. Food Emporium has a few locations that are just disgusting. There used to be one on 3rd in the 60s that was deplorable. The downstairs area always smelled.

Now if the rats are not paying for tickets, then I don't think that's fair

True.

It's not really a big deal to me. It's NYC. I'm used to it.

Food Emporium is long gone; they shut down as part of the huge A&P bankruptcy a few years ago.

Any stores you are seeing with that name are owned by Morton Williams (who bought the name via bankruptcy court) and are called "The Food Emporium".

Store mentioned on Third in 60's became a Morton Williams. Further up on Third in Trump Palace that store (also owned by Morton Williams) became "The" FE.

I'm on 3rd regularly but I haven't stepped foot into a FE in ages. No need to with Citarella and Whole Foods around. They did carry a few hard to find items like Langnese honey from Germany. Was my go-to honey when sick.

I go once in a while, mainly during the summertime, and I try to avoid crowded places. I make a night of it. I liked the indie movie theatre on 62nd and Broadway because I could stop off at Épicerie Boulud for some wine, then walk down to Columbus Circle and pick up some macarons from Bouchon Bakery. They sell HUGE macarons for about $5.00 each so I'd get $20.00 worth. Have two in the theatre and two at another time.

Black Panther was the last movie I saw in one but truth be told, I prefer watching movies in the comfort of my own home now.
