There have been a large numbers of men lingering around the upper 40s on 9th & 8th the past few nights. Felt a bit uncomfortable walking to the garage at 5AM as some tough looking drunks wanted to chat. Medical emergency at the Time Square Diner. I'm guessing these guys were leaving some club or music venue.
What, are you guys brand new? Midtown has always been scummy.
Most of these people don't seem to know that after business hours, Midtown turns into a **** show. I remember being inside of Tonic in Times Square and the entire crowd was business professionals with suits watching the game. As soon as 9pm hit and the game finished, all the business people cleared out the DJ started blasting music and the hood people rolled in sagging pants and big ass chains in tow with pat downs at the door. Hell about 6 months ago someone got shot in the head right in front of Tonic around 4am.

I always see professional white collar types like myself at the local bars and such when going home, so yes it is rather surprising. I've been working in Manhattan for a good 10+ years now not including before college.

I work in Midtown, but I don't stick around. If anything, I'll go to Stout, but that is usually when I am not coming directly from my office, but rather coming into the City to just hang out and have some beers.
In fact with all the tourists now I try to time it so that I can get right on the express bus and get the hell out of Midtown. It's overbearing at times.

I'm on the next block from Tonic. I walked with one of my coworkers to Los Tacos No.1 to grab lunch on Friday, DISASTER. I will never do that again.
Fridays, are the worst - even before 4:00pm it starts getting crazy.
Holy ****, sometimes I walk around Midtown at like 3 or 4am, forgetting that I'm in a big city. Have to be more careful, especially since there are so many crazies
I went to Chinatown recently at like midnight, right by the park they have to the east of Chinatown. It was actually quite terrifying with a lot of homeless people, a couple of whom were aggressive and racist

Yeah I haven't been to Tonic in ages. A couple of months after I went around 2013/2014 I think someone was shot as well in front.
