I am a 27 year old single male young professional who will be moving to nyc very soon. My work is near Rockefeller Center, however, I have been hearing that certain close by neighborhoods have had safety concerns with drug users post-COVID. What is the best neighborhood to live in that would be a decent commute (less than 30 minutes) to work but is safe and has plenty of people my age?

Appreciate any advice I can get!

Astoria if planning to stay single. Park slope, uws or ues if planning on starting a family. Google subway map and live close to a yellow (nrqw) or orange (bdfm) subway stop in the outer boros. Manhattan is NOT worth it nowadays so aim for astoria. My opinion of course.

So Astoria is better for young professionals?

This is dumb because Astoria is right below LIC. Some may say that LIC used to be the old Astoria, now it isn't.

I used to live near the border of LIC and Astoria, I always prefer Astoria because it's simply more convenient.

Today, it depends what your priorities are. LIC may have more fancy eats, bars, etc. But it's not a big deal anymore with covid19 shutdown.

NYC isn't a big deal anymore due to govt restrictions. Everything that made nyc nyc is gone. Overrated. Rents are down and still too pricey.

Murray Hill in Manhattan is not my favorite neighborhood, but it's very popular with young professionals.

If I were working in Manhattan and could afford Manhattan, I don't see the reason to move to Queens, especially with the possbility of drastic cuts in MTA service due to budget problems.
