The Times wrote this up in an interesting way. It's certainly seems true that we're over-reacting more and more hysterically to bad speech, but in this case, it was such an awkward accident with no ill intent.

I read this and agree it was a total over reaction. And I'm Jewish. As a culture, unfortunately, everything is being taken to extremes. I can only hope sanity will return in the not too distant future. (Happy New Year )

Anything spewed from the NY Times should be considered fake news.

People of the Jewish Faith were brilliant into practically extinguishing the word Nazi.
The moment the word is referenced in any matter it is jumped on like a fire and smothered immediately.
All other ethnicity have something valuable to learn from a proud Jewish people.
As an example: if more and more people of the African Race jump on and extinguish the N word rather than
cradle it as terms of endearment the sooner it will meet its demise. I am disheartened to see the word used
as part of normal communication. One would not paint pictures of flowers around the swastika. It is heretic to
attempt to morph the N word as a bond between a people as heard in rap music. Disgusting. You are not thugs.
Members of the mob did not call each other "my wap" as they greeted each other. Listen and learn.

This reminds me of Evergreen State University professor Bret Weinstein who had a similar issue with minority students and was shut down by fellow students even though Bret Weinstein is a lefty himself and is also a Jew. All of such for a day of absence for minorities. Than the reverse happened to white staff and students and the minorities and a few white feminists no longer wanted white males and non feminists white women on the campus anymore.

Right now we are in an severe Culture War thanks to the election of Donald J Trump. The election of Donald Trump ignited the Culture War to beyond proportions Pro Blacks, Feminists and SJWs on the left vs Alt-Right, conservatives regardless of race. We also saw the expansion of movements such as BLM and Metoo movements under Donald Trump. This PC stuff is getting way too out of hand. I do recognize that once people take words to the extreme, those that are also affected tend to go to the extreme like shaming language, doxxing, getting people fired, stalking and trolling. Such tactics are not part of Social Justice or offers any real form of Social Justice! When outrage people are done with one victim, they go on to the next. As well as consuming their own if possible.

I hope this culture war ends and people can come back to some sort of civility. We should also forgive, and give people a 2nd chance instead of moving forward to have one's livelihood destroyed which can create more poverty, more homelessness all in the name of Political Correctness. The funny thing is that I disagree with the Alt-Right and Conservatives, but I also disagree with Pro-Blacks, Feminists and SJWS. The funny thing is that all those groups are all fighting for the same thing, and that is economic representation due to the fact that equality has failed in the past 50 years. The problem is that under capitalism and a representative democracy, having real equality is difficult to achieve unless we as a society want to go under a Marxist route which it too does not provide real equality case in point China and its ethnic minorities.

I just hope that as a society we can be civil, also forgive, and have compassion for one another regardless of our standpoints, actions and words. Thus learn from a teaching lesson so we can become better people. And this is coming from a free speech absolutist.

Also put blame on over parenting and the pc college crowd

We're not in a culture war due to Trump. This stage of the culture war started in the mid-2010s. Trump is a result.

Can't wait until some film teacher ends up showing these people "Dr. Strangelove". First time Peter Sellers arm goes up, they'll go ballistic.

As a Russian Jewish American whose grandparents survived Stalinism, I have no issue whatsoever with the word Nazi, except when it is used to acuse someone of not agreeing with left wing socialist political policy.

The state run media intiated the racial divide as soon as President Trump was elected because he wasn't supposed to win.

This division or culture war is all being propagated by CNN, The Washington Post and The NY Times to penalize Americans who may have not voted for Hillary Clinton.

It's pretty clear cut. American voters were directed to vote for Clinton by the media machine and they did not. Now they have to suffer the consequences through a divide and conquer style televised race war. Censorship and violence have been added to the mix to get the point across that if you as a voter relelect this particular president, there will be hell to pay for your actions.

I read CNN everyday and one can easily gather the level of anti-trumpism they root for. I am not a believer of CNN politics even though I click though it for world events multiple times a day.

IMHO, new media should be regulated to make them mandatory to present balanced views on political events, instead of leaning heavily in one direction on any political matters. Lots of the CNN political opinion articles can fall under defamation lawsuits but somehow they are immune to such acts.

Frisch is a practicing Quaker, but his father was Jewish, and two of his great-grandmothers were killed at Auschwitz.

I don't see the big deal given the above. Heil Cd Data!
