35% of Latinos voted for Trump.

But very few African-Americans did.
The statistic I heard was only 9 %

9% is still a decent number considering how few votes he was projected to get from both groups. The fact of the matter is he stole votes from both groups that helped him to win. The Democrats have been taking these two groups for granted, thinking they have their votes in the bag, and they aren't doing anything quite frankly. That's why he won in the first place. If we want to talk about gentrification in this City, it's been accelerated by a Democratic mayor who claimed that he was "fighting" for the less fortunate. This "affordable housing agenda" has been a joke. He's been fighting alright... To help his developers build their mini mansions...

This debate comes up all the time, both for DT, and GOP in general.

What must be understood is that "Latino-Hispanic" in USA covers a wide demographic. Everything from "white/European" Cubans or Puerto Ricans down to Domicians, Mexicans and Gutamalans. As such what rolls for one group does not always with an other.

For instance many Cubans long have voted GOP beause they don't need "welfare" or whatever bennies from federal or local governents. This though they get theirs, but another way.

Perhaps best way to examine which Latinos voted for and or support DT would be to tease out where the voting happened. Highly doubt many living in "Little Domician Republic" of Washington Heights/Inwood voted for DT/GOP.

Sadly at least via demographics the future belongs to Latino-Hispanics, a group who is rapidly growing and becoming the dominant "minority" in many areas. African-Americans had their time, and this includes being the favored protected class.

Look around, it is the nut job Latino-Hispanic "socialist" canidates that seem to be sweeping DNC primary elections, and this includes in some areas with large AA presence.

I think more Hispanics would vote GOP if they weren't so extreme.

And correct, Washington Heights and every other Latino neighborhood in NYC voted for Hillary overwhelmingly. Same is mostly true of whites too

A lot of their support comes from white Berniebro/communist types

You can't assume that based on one's ethnicity that they voted one way. A Dominican who rejects the idea of handouts will vote for Trump too. I'm sure plenty of Cubans voted Trump because they tend to be conservative and mainly "white" Cubans from Cuba during the Castro period, but I have seen plenty of other Latinos that aren't Cubans that voted for him and they made their reasons very clear too. If you're a working professional who has busted their @ss and you see someone else living off of your dime, that creates resentment. It comes down to this for many (myself included): If I can work, so can other able bodied people. Taking handouts should always be a last resort and temporary.

There's resentment in Harlem in part because some of these people didn't work hard enough and they know that their chance to make something of themselves sailed a long time ago. They should be angry with themselves, not those who earn more.

The 30 or 35% Hispanic statistic in particular is quite striking.

More Hispanic-americans voted for Trump, than Jewish-Americans.
