We're about to move to Baychester, and we'll be buying a car. I'm an adult, but just got my license two years ago (NYC born-and-bred), and have not been behind the wheel for about a year. I need to practice a bit! Can anyone recommend some good locations to brush up on the basics? Not sure I need to pay for another lesson, but I'd consider it if necessary. Right now just looking for locations where I can practice without driving other motorists too insane.
You may have to venture further out, but look for government buildings with large parking lots. They are totally empty on the weekends and holidays. Especially DMVs which usually have pretty good size lots and will be empty at least on Sundays.
I would recommend an Interstate trip.
I was without a car for a few years and I rented one and drove to Boston and back. It was trying and a lot of it TESTY but I made do and felt more confident behind the wheel.
Parking lots are good for learning but nothing beats I-95, I-80 or I-78 to reinstitute driving skills.
Truth be told, I HATED the drive to Boston and back.

That sounds good. The parking lot was to get him acclimated first .
