Now more victims of lead poisoning are coming forward and the city will have to shell out massive amounts of money. This speeds up de Blasio’s privatization of NYCHA, which really happened due to the Trump administration busting NYCHA for hiding lead contamination and essentially ordered the city to clean it up. So the city not having the money to clean up these NYCHA developments has been selling 50 percent stakes to private developers in order to get them to upgrade the projects. Rent is raised and as a first step the apartments are converted to Section 8 apartments so the investors can get a return on their investment.

NYCHA is a corrupt, poorly led org., similar to the MTA. If it was a private corporation, heads would roll and people would be going to jail.

NYCHA was busted back in the 70's for theft of services among the ranks.
Many went to jail. Can't say that anything has changed for the better since then.
