Would this also fluctuate on which income bracket you’re applying for? LIke for those way at the bottom of the income bracket, I could see that happening but what about those in the middle or even towards the higher end? Some of these lottery apartments have rents at over $2k while market is around $3k...that would really suck if you were still paying a decent amount and got shafted with low end apartment furnishings.

They are not allowed to have "poor floors" anymore. The apartments have to be distributed through the building.

It's pretty clear that certain lines get affordable units and others don't have any, though.

Interesting. What do you mean by lines? Are lines Floors?

Again this depends on the developer. Our developer appearently was super adamant about making sure everything was equal. They took pride in this (crazy rite??). Our line is one of the larger two bedroom lines and the only apartments that have central air in every room. I also have friends who have affordable apartments that look EXACTLY like the market rate units.

I believe that location plays a part in this as well. Due to the overall vibe of the borough it’s easier to mix everyone up. Someone choosing to live in Brooklyn would have less of an issue with this then somebody shelling out $10,000 a month for an extell development in the UES.

Different for each building. Sometimes its the apt sizes that are different or the appliances or the flooring also the access to amenities vary as well.

what do you mean by "certain lines"? what are lines?

Lines are the different "stacks" of apartments in the building.

Lines are the apartments directly above or below one another. E.g. The A line apartment would be a studio for 1A, 2A; the B line would be a one bedroom in each floor, etc.

No - the buildings vary. I know someone who lives in 160 Madison - her apt is the same as all the others.
